1. What is Siri?
Siri is Apple's virtual voice assistant. It's a built-in feature on Apple devices, like iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watch that allows users to interact with their devices using natural language voice commands.
2. How do I enable Siri on my phone?
To enable Siri, follow these steps:
- Open your iOS device's settings.
- Scroll down and tap on "Siri & Search."
- Turn on toggle for “Listen for Hey Siri or “Press Side Button for Siri”
- Turn on toggle for “Allow Siri When Locked”
- Scroll down to find Huckleberry in the list of apps and ensure that “Use with Siri” is enabled
3. How do I create a custom shortcut for Siri in the Shortcuts App?
Each individual log you would like to use must have it's own custom shortcut in the Shortcuts App.
You can create custom shortcuts for Huckleberry in the Shortcuts app to make using Siri even more personalized. Here's how:
- Open the "Shortcuts" app on your iOS device.
- Tap the "+" button to create a new shortcut.
- Use the "Add Action" button to search for and add actions related to Huckleberry.
- Customize the shortcut by adding actions and setting parameters.
- Save the shortcut and give it a name.
- To use the custom shortcut with Siri, simply say the custom phrase you set while creating the shortcut.
4. How do I log the correct amount for feeding?
When logging a feeding with a specific amount, you need to repeat the exact amount listed in the Shortcuts App. For ounces, you need to say "fluid ounces" for it to log correctly.
5. What Huckleberry voice commands can I use with Siri?
To see examples of commands available, please check our Huckleberry app settings under “Siri & Shortcuts”. We also have the full list of commands here.
Note: Sleep commands are not available with this beta version.
6. Why won’t the Huckleberry Siri commands work?
- Ensure that your device is IOS 16 or above. This update included the ability to integrate Siri voice assistant with Shortcuts.
- Ensure that you have the Shortcuts app downloaded. This is a default IOS app installed on all IOS 13 devices and above.
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the app installed (0.9.227+)
7. Can I use these Siri commands with my Apple Watch?
Yes, but the Shortcuts app on Apple Watch shows only shortcuts that you specifically enable on your iPhone or iPad device.
- In the Shortcuts app
on your iPhone or iPad device, tap
on the Huckleberry shortcut you wish to add to your Watch, and select “Use in New Shortcut”
- Then tap
at the bottom of the page and open Details.
- Turn on “Show on Apple Watch”.
- Tap Done. The shortcut now appears in the Shortcuts app on your Apple Watch.
- You should now be able to use Siri to invoke the Shortcut on your Apple Watch.
Note: For each custom shortcut created, you must enable the toggle for Apple Watch. You can create as many shortcuts as you’d like and add them all to your Watch.
8. What should I do if Siri doesn't understand my voice command?
If Siri doesn't understand your voice command, try the following:
- Repeat the command clearly and slowly.
- Ensure that you're in a quiet environment.
- Check your device's microphone for any obstructions.
- Familiarize yourself with the supported voice commands list in Huckleberry.
- If you are logging a feeding, the amount needs to be identical to what is listed in the Shortcuts App. Example: For ounces, you must say "fluid ounces".
Note: Siri learns your voice as you use it. The more you talk to Siri, the better it can understand you.
9. How do I set Siri for Silent Responses or Spoken Responses?
To access the "Siri Responses" settings, follow these steps:
- Open your iOS device's settings.
- Scroll down and tap on "Siri & Search."
- Tap on “Siri Responses”
- Choose between Silent Responses, Automatic, and Spoke Responses
10. What is the difference between Automatic, Silent, and Spoken Responses?
- Silent Responses: When you select "Silent Responses," Siri will provide responses in text format without speaking. This option is useful if you prefer a quiet, text-based interaction with Siri.
- Spoken Responses: Selecting "Spoken Responses" means that Siri will provide voice feedback in addition to text responses when you issue voice commands related to Huckleberry. This can be helpful for those who prefer audible responses.
- Automatic: Siri will use on-device intelligence to automatically determine when to speak
11. Is Siri available on Android devices?
No, Siri is exclusively available on Apple devices (iOS) and is not available on Android devices. Siri integration will only work on iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watch.
12. Is my data safe with Siri Integration?
Yes, your data is secure with Siri. Apple takes privacy seriously, and your voice commands are processed on your device without being sent to Apple servers. Your data remains within the app and is not shared with third parties.
