SweetSpot Manual Mode is a setting that is included with a paid membership which allows users to modify their SweetSpot predictions to set wake windows.
While many caregivers are happy with SweetSpot predictions as they are, you may wish to modify the wake windows and have more user-initiated control over the SweetSpot times. This can especially come in handy when:
- Your child is going through a nap transition. Often children will end up falling asleep somewhere in between the 2-nap and 3-nap option, 3-nap and 4-nap option, etc. (depending on the age). Setting fixed wake windows helps give you a more exact target.
- You are following a specific sleep program.
- You want to use specific wake window values to give you an exact target.
How to Turn On SweetSpot Manual Mode
- Go to Child Profile (the 4th icon on the bottom navigation bar).
- Tap on SweetSpot Settings
- Tap the Manual Mode toggle to turn it on.
How to Adjust Your SweetSpot Settings
- You can use "Default" for the wake window length which uses an average wake window value appropriate to the age of your child.
- You can select the "+" or "-" to nudge your on top of the default wake window length to be shorter/longer in 15-minute increments.
- You can choose "Pick my own" You can set your own specific duration. You can set this for each individual wake window.
Example 1
Suppose your 10 month old is on 2 naps/day, and you want to follow what is known as the 2/3/4 schedule. To set this, set your SweetSpot Settings to 2 naps and check that your day vs. night cut-off times are appropriate for your child.
For each wake window, tap "Pick my own." Set the "Time before nap no. 1" to 2 hours, "Time before nap no. 2" to 3 hours, and "Time before bedtime" to 4 hours.
Example 2
Suppose you want a more exact target for wake windows based on the age of the child. You can use the "Default" wake window values. This will use the average wake window value that is age appropriate for your child.
To adjust it yourself further, you can adjust on top of the default value by using the "nudge the time" option. For the "Time before nap no. 1," tap the "-" button to adjust it 15 minutes shorter.
How to Revert Back to Automated SweetSpot
To stop using SweetSpot Manual Mode settings, simply tap the " Manual Mode" toggle to turn it off. It will revert back to automating the suggestions.
While modifying your wake window settings, you can also tap "Restore default settings" at the bottom of the customization screen at any time.
Will SweetSpot Manual Mode Settings Automatically Adjust with Age?
If you choose the "Pick my own" option and set a specific wake window duration, it will keep using that time until you change it.
The "Default" or "Nudge the time" options will automatically adjust the wake windows as your child gets older. Wake windows typically increase with age.
What Happens to SweetSpot if I'm No Longer a Paid Member?
